Lease Lengths, Furnished Rooms, and Housing Stipends

A move that lasts only a few months doesn't fit neatly into a standard 12-month apartment lease, and furnishing a place for that long rarely makes financial sense.

Gladewood Commons is opening its first house soon. Join the Early List so you can be notified when rooms are available and schedule your tour. Our standard leases run 6 or 12 months. For a stay of more than 90 days but less than six months, call us to discuss it. We don’t offer leases for stays shorter than 90 days.

What comes ready on move-in day

  • Furnished from day one. You won’t need to buy furniture for a stay of a few months and then sell or haul it afterward.
  • Utilities and Wi-Fi already set up. You won’t need to open and close utility accounts for a short stay.
  • Move-in ready. Less setup time means you can settle in sooner.

Lease terms vary from one co-living operator to the next, so confirm the specific term you need before you commit. Don't assume a length is available based on what you've heard about co-living generally.

About housing stipends

Some employment agreements include a housing stipend or per diem as part of the compensation package, separate from base pay. How that stipend interacts with a specific housing cost, and how it's treated for tax purposes, depends on your employer and your individual situation. That's not something we can advise on from here.

What we'd recommend: talk to your employer or a tax professional about how your specific stipend works before you commit to any housing arrangement, co-living included. We're glad to provide documentation of monthly rent and what's included if you need it for your stipend paperwork. Just ask.

What to ask us directly

  • Whether your dates fit a 6- or 12-month lease, or a stay of more than 90 days but less than six months
  • Whether a private or shared room fits your budget better for a short-term stay
  • Any documentation you'll need for a stipend process
